Auditions:

Organising the auditions

We set up a group chat called Aloe Pictures in order to communicate with one another so that we could express our ideas and views about our short film. This benefited us greatly when planning as we were able to contact one another and stay ahead of schedule.

An email that we sent out to let all the students know that we were creating a short film and that we needed a minimum of four actors. We stated the date and time and the list of characters that we needed.

This was the poster that we sent out over email but also placed around college to let people know about our short film.We used a bold font to capture their attention amongst other posters that were also set up around the college.

Audition footage

Here are a selection of the auditions, edited by Alice. We asked everyone to read a given scene to camera, and then sign an audition form that Alice created so we had their contact information and chosen role.

Intern 1, 2 & 3

First we auditioned for the three 'Intern' characters. As they are very similar we allowed people to choose which character they would like to read in, and allowed them to read in groups to help them get an idea of the scene.

Victim

Secondly we auditioned for 'The Victim (Jacob/Jackie)'. As it is a small character we allowed anyone to audition for this role, regardless of gender.

The Boss

Then we auditioned people for 'The Boss' character. We made sure to ask beforehand if the people auditioning were comfortable with a fight scene.

Helena

Finally we auditioned for the main character 'Helena'. As this was the main character and we wanted to be able to trust the actor and know their schedule, Alice auditioned for the role. We asked beforehand if people auditioning were comfortable with a fight scenes.
