Editing - Colour Correction

We wanted to colour correct to make the film look nicer and more professional. we started with scene one, which mostly just needed white balancing as it was already a mostly neutral coloured scene. For this shot I used a 'garbage four point matte' to zone in the white of the paper, then used 'RGB curves' to slightly adjust the level of the red, green, and blue in the shot until all three levels on the RGB graph matched, and used the 'fast colour corrector' to add more colour that would balance it out. I then used the master graph on the 'RGB curves' to brighten the shot. This is a before and after.

For this scene the lighting was quite dark making the colours in the shot look dull. First I used a 'garbage four point matte' to zone in on my face and 'fast colour corrector' to make the colour of my skin fall on the line between red and yellow so it looks natural, and then zoned in on the bricks and copied the colours I had used to correct the bricks in another shot onto this shot so the colours matched. I then used the 'RGB curves' to boost he lighting but then brought down the saturation so the shot still looked natural.

This scene was difficult to correct as he shots of my faced were re-filmed later on in the day. This meant that the lighting was warmer than the other shots so had to be fixed. I used a 'garbage four point matte' to zone in on the wall, and 'RGB curves' to balance it so the wall is white, and brightened it. I then used the 'fast colour corrector' to make sure my skin still looked natural so added in yellow. I had to make sure the red was crushed in this shot and the blue was boosted to take out the warmness and make it cooler.

This is the final scene so I wanted it to stand out. I first used 'garbage four point matte' to zone in on Hollie's face and 'fast colour corrector' to make the colour fall on the line between red and yellow making it look natural. Then I zoned in on the wall and white balanced it. Then using 'three-way colour corrector' to add in blue undertones which makes the scene look colder and darker, symbolising the natures of both of the characters involved in the fight.
