Film Review Editing

After feedback, we made some small changes to the design of our review to make sure it looked as realistic and perfected as possible for our audience.

Second draft:

Edited version:

We added the age certificate of our film to the poster. We thought this was an essential feature of reviews because it indicates to the audience whether there’s going to be violence/mature content in the film and so helps them decide if they should watch it or not, plus, they can decide whether or not it is suitable for family members. Without this feature, our review would not have looked as polished or serious.

We added the name of the author of the review as all real magazine reviews include this and readers often like to know who is reviewing the film. This may be because they only trust certain writers. Another small edit that we made to our review was adding white box behind the release date of the film. This was just a small touch but we thought it tied the whole thing together better because the quotes from other reviews have white rectangles behind them, plus, it makes the red text stand out more against the green background.

We made sure the main text on the review was justified and all lined up properly. This was only a small change but it made a big difference as our review looked much more professional and like something from a proper magazine.

Third draft:

After more feedback, we made some extra changes to our review. This resulted in us changing the design a bit more drastically but it helped the finished product look more polished.

We changed the heading font to 'Courier New,' as, although the previous one was bold and stood out on the page, this one is in a typewriter style and looks more photographer appropriate. Plus, we have used this font for the title of the film on the poster and in the film for the title and credits, therefore, it allowed us to create synergy across all three of our products by using the same font and it ties everything together nicely.

We originally only had one image on our review but decided to add some more, (one from each scene) to give the audience a bit more of an idea as to what the film is about. We made sure to place the images in chronological order so readers got a slight taster for the storyline but we still made sure that we didn't give too much away about the ending. This also just generally made the page look more interesting and filled out more space. We put them into a filmstrip, which looked professional as this is often used in real reviews.

After adding the extra images, we had to move the other text around, so, we put the quotes from other reviews across the bottom, which helped to fill out more space and make the whole thing seem a bit bigger as everything wasn't all crammed together on one side. However, we ensured that our main image of our protagonist was still visable.
