Survey:
We created a survey in order to have a clear image on who our main consumers of the short film would be but to also note down what was liked/disliked by our potential audience.This helped as after we gathered the results and averages we were able to decide and construct our plot which mirrored what the audience liked.
We found that the majority of our audience is female, so we decided to cater towards them by having the lead character of our short film a woman.So viewers will be able to relate,this would also be challenging the action film charcter stereotype by having a strong woman at the center of the story.
This result established our target audiences age.The results show that 95% of our audience are 16-18 years old,so we will keep our audience in mind when planning and making our short film.
The highest result for favourite film was: Comedy,however we have decided not to choose this as our selcted genre as comedy can be very tricky. Plus our prefered choice was thriller-we also noted that our target audience chose Thriller as their second favourite,so we knew that we would be making a film that they would like/enjoy.
From this data we gathered that some people do watch short films just not on a regular ocassion.We were also reasurred that we would have an audience for our short film as 28% did say that they watch short films and 45% saying they sometimes do.
The majority of our taret audience choose narrative/plot/storyline as the most important feature.Therefore we are going to focus on this to make sure we grip and keep the attention of our audience.
We took all of the opinions of our target audience into account when constructing the plot:
-Fast paced
-Good storyline
-Location
-Interesting narrative
The response to a fight scenes was mixed,as some liked the idea of incorporating fight scenes into the short film others were not certain.We decided to have one main fight scene and did extensive research in order for it to look professional.
